A Rose Is A Rose... 0

Hello, friends!  This is Sharon and I've been a part of the Brutus Monroe team for almost two weeks now and having so much fun creating cards with their great stamps and products!  But I wanted to branch out a little and make something different!  I walked around AC Moore yesterday, looking at the bare wood items meant for crafting with but just wasn't inspired.  Thankfully, when I got home I came across this old frame which I'd tucked away to DIY back to life and had my AHA! moment!  Beginning with the frame, I tapped the Sidewalk ink pad all over the front of it and noticed it stayed wet on the smooth surface so immediately sprinkled on some clear embossing powder then heat-set it!  The color is fairly light, so I rubbed on more Sidewalk over the embossing and then set the color with my heat tool.  Voila!  I love the textured surface it made!

Notice that beautiful embossed background!   First I spritzed Brutus Monroe's  Vintage Tapestry embossing folder with Wagon Surface Spray and then Sidewalk Surface Spray and ran a piece of watercolor cardstock through my Cuttlebug.  The colors are divine and I can't wait to get more of them!  The photos don't show it, but I also brushed Wink of Stella glitter all over the surface after!

At this point I'd decided to use the rosebud and leaves from Stampendous' Rose Garden set which I stamped out, colored with Copics and die-cut, then added Wink of Stella clear glitter to the buds.  Now what to do with the mat??  I used my favorite script stamp and Raven Detail ink  to stamp it onto the mat; bummed that my script overlapped a little in some places, but that's ok!

Next I used the I Love You stamp from Conservatory of Quotes and heat-embossed it in white onto a strip of black paper, then adhered it to the embossed panel.  The final step was to place my blossoms and leaves then put it all together!  Just look at all the different textures going on!  This came together fairly quickly and I'm really pleased with it!  Be sure to take a peek at the Brutus Monroe website to see the many fabulous products they have!  I'll be adding to my stash, for sure!

Celebrate Today With a Birthday Bear

Celebrate Today With a Birthday Bear 0

Hi all! Aletha Jane here. This will be my first post on Brutus/Monroe’s blog as a new designer. I am excited and honored to be working with Brutus/Monroe and their talented designers I love everything about our products. They range from card making, tags, ATCs, to mixed media (and much more), whatever is your delight.

On to my project…I have a very cute and fun birthday card to share. I first stamped this little chubby bear from the “Birthday Bears” set in B/M’s Raven ink. This ink has the most important attributes that I would look for in a hybrid ink, waterproof and alcohol marker safe. With that said, after the ink was set I colored with Copic markers. Most of the bear was colored with the warm greys.

My next step is to stamp the “Watercolor” background stamp with Sidewalk Surface Ink. The surface inks are going to be another favorite. My next step is to cut all my layers with B/M’s 8 piece stitched square die. The top dark brown layer was embossed with our embossing ink and our ultra-fine alabaster embossing powder. The sentiment "Celebrate Today" is included with the "Birthday Bear" stamp set. Finally assemble your card. I did fussy cut the bear and pop it up with foam squares.

Thanks so much for stopping by. More inspiration will be coming your way tomorrow. We hope you will check out our Brutus/Monroe's blog every day.

Greatest Birthday

Greatest Birthday 2

Hello everyone! It's Berina here with a card today using the lovely Big Top stamp set.

And when you open it, surprise!

The circus animals pops up when you open the card. Here's how I made this card. I stamped all the images and colored them with Copics and Stylefile Markers. I fussy cut all the images and colored the edges with a black marker. For the card front , I embossed a panel of white card stock of size 3 3/4" x 5" with the Floral Burst embossing folder. I adhered it on to a red card stock panel of size 4" x 5 1/4". I then adhered it on to a blue card stock and adhered it to the card base. I cut the sentiment and matted it with red card stock. I adhered the sentiment and the image with foam tape.

For the inside of the card, I took strips of card stock. I used scraps leftover from previous cards.

Score the card stock strip in 3 places like shown in the pic.

Then I adhered the animals on to the strips and then adhered the strips on the inside of the card. It was a bit tricky to position them correctly. But it gets better with practice, I promise :)

Here's how it looks after adhering all the animals. It was really fun making an interactive card and it's easy too!

Hope you liked my card today. Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Beep, beep August 2017 Stamp Club

Beep, beep August 2017 Stamp Club 0

 Hello stamping friends,

We have a super cute stamp for Stamp Club this month. Brutus Monroe Stamp Club is a great deal whereby you get a monthly 2"x3" stamp set for just $5 which includes shipping! With your active membership you also get a 10% discount on all Brutus Monroe purchases.

I chose to make my robots male and female to show robots are not just for boys. I used Copic markers to color them. I stamped a simple sun burst as my background so my robots are the focus of this Birthday "botday" card. My final touch was adding some hearts to express love for the birthday child.

As always, please share your creations with us on social media using #brutusmonroe. We always enjoy seeing your designs.

Enjoy!

Let's Get Tropical

Let's Get Tropical 0

 Hello Peeps,

Ever wonder what to do with those cute card bases you can buy at the big box craft stores? As many of you may have noticed I love anything nautical or tropical so I had to have these tropical card bases. I thought, what a great back drop for the Brutus stamp from the Brutus and Friends stamp set.

One of the best attributes of the Brutus Monroe stamps is how well they go with other stamps you may already own. I have combined this Brutus Monroe stamp with a floral background I owned and layered it onto the preprinted card base! How easy is this? I even stamped the sentiment directly onto the card base.

How about a challenge? I would love to see your creations using Brutus Monroe and your other stamps. Please share these creations using #BrutusMonroe.

Enjoy

Nautical Doodle

Nautical Doodle 0

 Friends,

Today I am having fun using my Brutus Monroe Nautical Doodle stamp set. I have taken the elements of the set and created a frame on the card layer. I then colored (Copic markers) the images in what I consider summer/nautical colors. It makes for a bright and cheerful card.

I then created a cruise ship scene layer using die cuts and the main stamp from the BM Nautical Doodle set. I layered it onto a bright yellow layer and added a sentiment fishtail banner to complete the card.

Let us see your nautical creations by posting them using #BrutusMonroe. Thanks for sharing and helping to inspire others.
