December Release- Birthday Wish

December Release- Birthday Wish

For today's project, I wanted to use the Birthday Wish stamp set to create a really fun birthday card. I love how this stamp set is so versatile! It includes lots of numbers, a big cake, balloon, and some other fun images. You can really customize a birthday project for anyone of any age! I opted to go for a glittery-glam birthday card.

I started by taking a piece of white cardstock and cutting the right side so that it had a curve to it. I did this by taking a dinner plate and tracing the curve along the edge and then just cutting along the line with a scissors. If I had a die it would make things much easier, but since I don't, I improvised!

Then, I took some Sea Chalk Ink and lightly blended it on right where I knew I wanted to place the cake. I wanted to make just a subtle spotlight effect without really coloring the whole piece of cardstock.

After the ink was blended on to my liking, I die cut some small banner shapes out of some black and white chevron vellum paper, and also some tiny hearts out of cardstock. I colored the hearts using some Rouge Chalk Ink. Then, I took all of those little die cut pieces and arranged them behind the cake to look like some fun birthday banners.

I moved my background piece aside while I started to work on the cake. I stamped in out in Raven Black Ink, and then sprinkled some clear embossing powder on top. I then embossed the image so that it would be easier for me to stay within the lines while I colored the image.

I did some watercoloring on the cake using a few shades of Distress Ink. I really wanted to pull more of that pink out from the hearts, so I used Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick, and then a little Pumice Stone for the cake stand. I let the color dry and then added some sprinkles to the frosting with my white gel pen. I then adhered the cake down over that Sea blue spotlight on the background piece using foam adhesive. I needed a cake topper so I grabbed my Diamonds Stamp Set, stamped out one of the diamonds on vellum, and embossed it in Gold Embossing Powder. I then glued the diamond to the top of the cake.

Who doesn't want diamonds on their cake?

Next, I took a word die that I had in my supplies and cut out the word, "party" three times and then glued those pieces all together. This gave my word a little more dimension. I adhered that down next to the cake and then also took some gold glittery Heidi Swapp letter stickers and added the word "just" to finish off the sentiment.

The last thing I did was add some gold glittery washi tape to the card base on the right side, and then adhered my whole card panel down over that using some pink craft foam. I like the craft foam because you get even dimension without using up all your foam adhesive.

So that's it for today's card! Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you have a little more inspiration to brighten up your day.

Happy crafting!
