Happy Holidays | Creative Backgrounds with Brutus Monroe Inks and Stencils

Hello! Today I thought I'd show you an example of a few simple ways you can use Brutus Monroe's inks to create unique backgrounds for your cards and projects.  I started by taking a piece of vellum paper and using the Brutus Monroe Polka Stencil along with some white pigment ink to create some fun but subtle polka dots on the vellum piece. When doing this, you do need to try to let the ink dry completely before working with your piece so you don't smudge the ink. Pigment ink generally takes longer to dry anyway, and when you put...

Merry Christmas Layered Card

Merry Christmas Layered Card

Hi! Happy Tuesday! Today I have a sort of patchwork card to share. I used the Holiday Sentiments stamp set and the Sketched Holiday stamp set for the fun 'tiles'. I picked some fun colors of cardstock and papers to use for the layers. Any scraps you have around would work really well for a card like this, use up that stash! After arranging the stamps, I stamped them using Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink and Alabaster powder. I trimmed the stamps and arranged the tiles. I had fun playing with non-traditional Holiday colors. Believe

Today I wanted to create a little Christmas magic. I was inspired by the new holiday release by Brutus Monroe called "Oh, Deer". I have tried to create a winter wonderland scene by blending Aubergine, Oz, and Sea chalk inks creating a mystical scene for the background of this very cute reindeer card (stamp from Brutus Monroe). After coloring the reindeer in with Copic markers I added Glossy Accents to his nose and fussy cut him out. The sentiment and trees were cut using Simon Says Stamps dies. To finish the card I added a few sequins to...

Merry Chistmas with Sketched Holiday and Glitter

Linda here with a little Christmas Cheer wishing you a Merry Chistmas with Sketched Holiday and Glitter. For this project I was inspired by the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown challenge. This weeks challenge was to use glitter. Since I needed to make a blog post and I wanted to submit a card for this challenge I decided to do a two in one. Pulling out the Sketched Holiday stamp set and some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist I knew I wanted lots of beautiful color. In the video I used Crimson and Moss Tattered Angels Glimmer mist. A page of Canvas...

Banner or Bunting? Holiday or Birthday?

Banner or Bunting? Holiday or Birthday?

Yes, the holiday season seems to be in full swing! That means holiday cards along with birthday cards for my pals with December birthdays. As a December baby, I was never the fan of the combined Christmas/Birthday card (other than the scrumptious cake my sister-in-law got for me one year that said "Merry Birthday" and was decorated with big sugary ornaments!) so I make a point to give both birthday and holiday cards to my December birthday friends. Never one for a Hallmark, I like to make holiday cards that are a bit unexpected. This year I thought it...
