She is a life-long crafter who has recently begun to focus on and hone her talents in the world of card crafting. When I Grow Up - Firefighter

Hi there! I’m showcasing one of the four new stamp sets from Brutus Monroe featuring their “When I Grow Up” line. I’ve mentioned several times, in the posts I’ve created for this line, how IN LOVE I am with these sets, and how in love with Christopher Alan for bringing these designs to life! As a mom with a little girl I am always looking for non-traditional images of strong females for her to idolize, especially since I don’t have the traditional pink and doll-loving girl. We spend more time in the “green and blue” section of a clothing store than the “pink and purple” part, she plays more with puppy dogs and cars than dressing dolls.

This was my daughter this past Halloween, she wanted to be Marshal, from Paw Patrol, who is a firedog!

To create my card I used the Zest and Jack-o-Lantern Colorburst colors from Brutus Monroe. I focused the yellow more towards the top of the card panel and the orange towards the bottom. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the varieties of color in these bursts! See the green, on my panel, that is inside one of the Colorbursts, providing a magnificent variety!

When that was well and dry, I combined the Brutus Monroe Mixed Media Stencil “Pugsley” and Deco Foil Transfer Gel to create a striped pattern on my paper. I waited until this was good and dry before I ran it and through my laminator with the Deco Foil Transfer Paper in Red. I love love love the striking colors of the Colorburst and the Red Foiling!

[For the record, I avoided foiling for the longest time because I wasn’t sure my Scotch brand laminator would work for foiling. Guess what, it DOES!!!]

I inked my girl with Brutus Monroe Detail Ink in Raven, which is alcohol ink friendly (though I did heat set it first, then I colored her with Copic Markers. I fussy cut her, and her puppy, out and then ran a black Copic Multiliner along the edges for a finished look.

I took the sentiment from the set, stamped it with the Raven Ink, and covered that in Wow! Clear Embossing Powder, however Ultra-Fine Embossing Powder in Icicle would also have worked perfectly, I just didn’t have that. I folded the vellum that I had stamped the sentiment on, and folded around the Colorburst card panel and adhered it on the backside. Using my taperunner, I adhered the girl and her puppy, this prevented the vellum from wrinkling it.

To finish the card I cut some red cardstock down to an A2 size and sprayed it with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine spray in Gold. I LOVE how this finished the card off.

Have I mentioned how much I am in LOVE with these sets?!?!?! I LOVE that they reflect my daughter and other girls like her! Christopher Alan of Brutus Monroe, I LOVE you for providing strong female characters for my daughter to see. You are AMAZING!
