Summer feeling card

Summer feeling card

Hello friends, Luisana here.

For this week’s project I wanted to make something a little minimalist, without so many colors or layers.  “Less is more” is something i struggle with and I often get carried away with my coloring, or adding images.

Camping is our family’s most favorite thing to do, like ever.  We look forward to it every spring.  So this camping trailer set was perfect for my card.

First thing I did was stamp my image to the side of my a2 base. I used my misti for this, and I am so glad I did.  I ended up having to stamp it a couple of times to get the whole trailer perfectly.  Then, I made I “mask” from the same trailer by stamping it on a thin piece of paper, I often use whatever I have near me, today it was a piece of paper from an old dictionary I sometimes use for making cards.  My trick for masks is to put a couple of tiny drops of Tombow mono glue on the back side and letting it dry completely.  The glue is repositionable so I am able to place the mask exactly where I need it, without it moving, and as a bonus I can store all my masks with my stamp sets. This is what my stamps look like after I have created masks.

Back to the card, I placed my mask on top of my trailer and I proceeded to stamp clouds above it. The clouds are from a different set, I believe it has been discontinued, so I apologize for that.

Now all I needed to stamp was my sentiment.  I chose this one from the same stamp set the trailer came from.  That statement speaks deep into my soul.  I added a couple of squiggly lines under the tire and the other part of the trailer that is supposed to be touching the ground, to make it look “grounded” and not like the trailer is floating in the sky.

Coloring is always the fun part.  I used copics in shades or blue and gray for both the sky and the trailer. And a tiny amount of green for the lines that ground it.

As per my usual, I trimmed an eighth of an inch off of each side of my card and glued it onto a A2 size white cardstock to add a little dimension.

Alrighty, thank you so much for hanging out with me today.  Do you guys enjoy camping? What is your family’s favorite summer activity? Comment down below and tell me all about it.

I will see you again next Monday.
