May Release!

May Release!

I am so excited for this May release! The stamps for this month are very detailed, unique, and just all around fun to play with. I'll be sharing some of the stamp sets and what I created with them today, and in the next coming weeks I'll give you a more in-depth look at a few of my favorite projects.

I'm always so excited to see what Brutus Monroe will be releasing next, so as soon as I see my mailman drop off my stamps I run to the mailbox to grab them and start creating! The first stamp set I used this time around was the camera set, SNAP. I absolutely adore all the different camera images in this set, as well as the sentiments that you can mix and match. I colored one camera, fussy cut it out, and then popped it up on foam adhesive right over the sentiments that I stamped out in different directions. I also created a fun bokeh background that I thought matched perfectly with the camera theme.

Next, I moved on to the light bulb set, SHINE BRIGHT. Turns out I'm not only a sucker for cameras but also for light bulbs! I couldn't decide which one was my favorite, so I stamped out several of them on a side folded card, and just colored one in to help it stand out. I love the graphic, clean and simple look of this card.

Moving on! Ever since I got a sneak peek of this FLORAL LACE background stamp, I have been dying to play with it. It looks fabulous embossed in gold, but I also stamped it out in black and white pigment ink on kraft and its stunning any way you use it! Here, I stamped it on a piece of watercolor paper, embossed it, and then watercolored some bright colors onto it. Add a simple sentiment and let the stamp itself take center stage and you have a quick but stunning card!

These next stamp sets are so unique. If you haven't heard already, Rita Barakat has designed some stamp sets for Brutus Monroe, and these two are the ones released this month. There is a background stamp, FAIRY GARDEN, as well as a set called FAIRY MAGIC. I combined the background stamp with the little bunny image and sentiment from the Fairy Magic set to create this first card, and then I created a second card with that whimsical fairy image. These stamp images just scream color!

This next project I created with the WILDFLOWERS stamp set. This stamp is gorgeous and also a great coloring stamp, but I decided to keep it simple and stamp it on a kraft pillowcase box in black. Then, I tied it shut with some white raffia ribbon, and added a butterfly die cut that I colored with some WAGON SURFACE INK and stamped the words, "thank you" on it. This would be a fast, easy way to create a number of party or wedding favors for your next event.

Last, but not least, I created this fun shaker card with the new WAVE background stamp. This stamp is perfect to combine with Brutus Monroe's FISH BOWL stamp set. The awesome thing about the fish set is that along with the May Release is COORDINATING DIES for all the fun fish images in the set. No more fussy cutting! I also love how Brutus Monroe designed their packaging so that its easy to stick your dies back into place, and you never have to guess which die goes with which fish. Brilliant!

There are also a few more fun items in the May Release, such as some new surface ink colors, more coordinating dies, tags, and also a stencil designed by the talented Rita Barakat. Go check them out in the store!

Thanks for stopping by!
