Hi! Kate, here!
I'm so excited for my first post on the Brutus Monroe Blog! I can't wait to show you my clean and simple style.
If you follow me on Instagram @katedeignancards
, you know that I really don't like to color. I mean, I'll do it, but it's got to be quick! So when I first saw the Farmhouse Friends stamp set, I thought "Oh, no, coloring!" But then I realized that I could keep the coloring to a minimum and still make cute cards!
Alcohol Ink markers (for coloring chicken and pig)
The farmhouse makes a cute backdrop for the card, but I really think the sentiments are the stars of the show.
For the pig card, I stamped the farmhouse in Brushed Corduroy Distress Oxide Ink (yes, you can stamp with the Distress Oxide inks!) on Alabaster card stock. I lined up the farmhouse and the sentiment in my stamping tool and was able to repeat stamp for full coverage. You can also use the disappearing ink for a much lighter Farmhouse image. The pig was stamped and fussy cut from a scrap of Perfect Blend Alcohol Marker paper in Raven Ink. Pop up that cutie and call the card done! I added some heart stickers from my stash, but the Candy Hearts Sprinklets
would be even better! (Note to self: ORDER THOSE!!!)
The chicken card was made in a similar fashion, changing out the brown ink for some Embossing ink for a tone-one-tone look. You can even use the Candied Apple Distress Oxide ink to stamp the farmhouse. I stamped the sentiment on a pre-cut sentiment strip with some Raven ink and popped up that and the chicken for some dimension.
These adorable (almost) one layer cards are great for quick notes for loved ones no matter whether they live...in the city or the country!
