New Year, More Tacos…

With the new year comes resolutions, many of them being food related. They go something like this…

I will eat healthier...

I will give up….

I will go to the gym…

Now I’m not here to make fun of anyone’s resolution making, but for me, I know that these are some resolutions that are likely to go by the wayside, or never be made at all.

I have to be honest here, I love food. I love steak, ice cream, chocolate, wine, the list goes on. Now I don’t have anything against chicken and vegetables, but I definitely wouldn’t be picking that for my last meal. But one thing I reach for again and again, is tacos. I love tacos so much that this Christmas a special friend of mine gifted me a unicorn taco holder. It’s amazing, but we can talk about that later.

The reason I am here is of course, my love of tacos and the fact that there is no better stamp to share my love than I Love You More Than Tacos.

When I was invited to guest design for the team at Brutus Monroe, I knew this was a set I had to use, and trust me, you need it too. It’s a 2x3 stamp with a fully loaded taco and has the perfect sentiment for any good friend. You know that if I send you a card that says, I love you more than tacos, well... it’s true love.

For my first card I went really simple, I used Brutus Monroe Detail Ink in Raven to stamp in my sentiment and taco. I wanted the taco to be the start of this card so I avoided extra embellishments or the fancy backgrounds that I tend to do. I used my Misti to line up my stamps and after coloring I embossed it to give it a little shine and to hold everything in place. You can use Brutus Monroe Embossing Powder in Icicle and Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink to make this happen.

I colored my taco with Prismacolor colored pencils and on the inside I stamped another taco that I left black and white and ta-da! Here’s the final project:

This wasn’t my only taco card though. I was feeling a bit silly so I also made a space taco card. I used a sparkly black embossing powder to emboss four different tacos onto a background I had made previously. I left it a little messy, and didn’t wipe away any extra powder, because I liked the way that it looked. Then I did another taco in silver embossing powder, to pop in the middle. I used foam tape to give it some dimension and then I layered the entire thing on a space background paper I had. I also used the sentiment on the background with silver embossing powder so that it is easy to see in my space background.

To do this project yourself you’ll need Brutus Monroe Embossing Ink, Ultra Fine Embossing Powder in Raven mixed with a little Embossing Powder - Fairy Dust and Metallic Embossing Powder in Sterling.

That’s it for me today and I hope you loved my projects more than you love tacos!

I wish you luck with your resolutions but if you do decide to give them up, there’s always tacos.

Love,
Beth
