Rainbow Background with Conservatory of Quotes- Guest Designer, Vicki!

I’m so excited to share my card with this Brutus Monroe “Conservatory of Quotes” stamp set! It’s been on my wish list for quite a while, and how exciting to be able to share it as a guest here! 😊 As I share the process, you will see why it was important for me to pick the sentiment I did for my card!

To create the background, I’ve used a piece of the Brutus Monroe Aqua Pigment Paper and masked off an area with purple tape large enough to fit the floral image in. (This is where I’ve used a Jennifer McGuire technique.) I took my trusty “Create Your Own Ending” ruler and wrapped around two folded baby wipes and secured it on with a rubber band. I’ve used a rainbow of Aqua Pigment colors in red, orange, yellow, green and blue. Swiping in a single direction over the masked area, it creates this gorgeous rainbow background! I then covered the baby wipe ruler again with the Pearl colored Aqua Pigment to go over the area for some pretty shimmer!

After drying, I removed the masked tape and added the sentiment on the right bottom of the rainbow area. I cut it out with a stitched die rectangle. I then decided to create some splatters by taking some watered down black Aqua Pigment and using a fan brush to splatter over the design.

(This is where the process of this card became a bit more difficult!) I thought I was going to heat emboss the floral image with the BM Alabaster embossing powder, but it seemed to really get lost with the rainbow background, so I stamped the floral image again TWICE with the BM Raven Detail Ink over a piece of Aqua Pigment Paper, colored in the leaves on one of the images and then colored up the flowers only on the other image. I fussy cut out the entire image with the green leaves, glued it over top of the heat embossed image. Then I fussy cut out the flowers, but for these, I’ve popped them up over the image with some foam squares. I covered the flowers with some more of that Pearl Aqua Pigment for added shimmer. This panel was layered over an A2 sized top folding BM Raven cardstock piece. Lastly, I’ve taken some clear sequins and attached randomly to the design.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card today and I look forward to sharing with you again soon!

Vicki, this is a beautiful card and I appreciate your tutorial video that accompanied it. I am still learning my way around a greeting card and I would indeed be proud to present such a card as yours. Keep up the inspirational work and teach us all to be better artists.
