Puddle Jumping Die set and Spring Showers Stencil

Puddle Jumping Die set and Spring Showers Stencil

Hello crafty friends!

Today I wanted to share a messy kind of card with you. I like controlled mess over total mess and so I started the card by ink blending some distress inks in yellows and light blue on a watercolor panel with a very light hand. This is just to lay down some color before adding more.

Here comes the slightly messy part. I sprayed some Cobalt Blue and Turquoise Chroma mists on to the media mat and ink smooshed the panel towards the bottom half to create puddles of water. I also created some splatter with the left over chroma mists on the mat.

While this was drying I die cut the two duckies from the Puddle Jumping Die set and also die cut parts of umbrella in silver mirror card stock and black for the handle.

On a piece on watercolor paper I sprayed some Pink and Red Chroma Mists and let that dry from which I later die cut the top part of the umbrella and also the background layer for my sentiment. Meanwhile I colored the duckies with alcohol markers.

Once my background panel was dry I added the puddles and raindrops from the Spring Showers stencil using distress inks.

I used some foam tape to give additional dimension to two layers of the umbrella and in the final step I adhered the background panel to an A2 size card base and my card elements were glued on top along with the sentiment from the Puddle Jumping Die set.

I hope you’ll give this slightly messy technique a try while keeping the mess contained. That's all from me today! Until next time; happy crafting.
