Layering with Single Stencil

Layering with Single Stencil

Hello friends! I LOVE using stencils, and I especially love being able to find new and exciting ways to use them! For today's project, I made a background that looks like I had layering stencils, but I just used one stencil!

For my project today, I used the Shadow Tile stencil and two colors of ink that coordinate and mix well together. Some areas of our stenciling will overlap when you rotate the stencil so you don't want to use any colors together that when mixed will become muddy.

I also used the Stick & Stamp mat and the Perfect Blend cardstock - this is the perfect combination for a perfectly stenciled background.

I put the stencil over the cardstock on my sticky mat and blended over a dark blue color to start.

The next thing I did was rotate the stencil clockwise, two turns - this made it so the center triangle of each square was opposite of where it was first.

I used a purple ink for this layer - and Voila! Look how cool that is!

I cut this down with a stitched rectangle die, and added a sentiment in the middle from the Extra Sentimental stamp set and this card is done!

This would be a great card to make several of, because you could do assembly line style and knock out a bunch of cards in no time! ... you could even add glitter with glitter glazes on one of the layers....or metallic chroma glaze would look so cool! ...off to my craft room to create some more backgrounds!
