Laser Cut Flamingos

Laser Cut Flamingos

Hello crafty friends! Lauren here, sharing this fun, summery flamingo card! Brutus Monroe has some awesome chipboard laser cuts for the summer, and I can't get enough of them. I wanted this card to have a bright, cheery color scheme!

I started by masking off the flamingo legs with a piece of purple tape. I squished my embossing ink directly onto the flamingo bodies and coated them with Conversation Heart embossing powder. After heat setting it, I repeated the process again, to make a nice smooth melted pink coat. When it was cooled, I masked off the body and squished the ink pad down on the legs, and repeated the double layer embossing process with Gilded embossing powder. When they were cooled, I used purple tape to hold the stencil of the month over them, and spread Flamingo glitter glaze over the bodies. Flamingo is an exclusive pink color from the glitter glaze subscription, so if you don't have that one, you could always use a permanent collection pink color like Raspberry, which I'll also link below. If you enjoy stenciling and glitter glaze, I highly recommend the subscription!

While that dried, I put the Paint Spots stencil over a panel of turquoise cardstock, and taped it into place. I again squished the embossing ink over the open spots in the stencil and then heat embossed the spots with Alabaster EP. I popped the spotted panel up on a slightly larger Alabaster cardstock panel with foam tape, and then attached the flamingos with foam tape as well. To finish it off, I stamped Happy Birthday onto some alabaster cardstock with Oz surface ink, and attached it with foam tape as well. This card did not take very long to make, aside from the drying time for the glitter glaze! If you decorate the chipboard pieces ahead of time and keep a stash of them, it makes it easy to quickly assemble a card when you need one.

Have you tried any of the laser cut chipboard shapes yet? I can't wait to play with more! I have a few other projects ready to share in the next week or so using a few chipboard shapes, so stay tuned!
