Just Use Water!

Just Use Water!

Kate here with a fun and easy technique you can use with your Distress Oxide inks, a stencil and plain old water!
Supplies:
Distress Oxide Inks : Picked Raspberry, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Blueprint Sketch
Waffleflower Sunburst stencil
Water (in a spray bottle)
I love the large image in the Beachy Christmas stamp set, but I did not want to create the underwater scene.  I just wanted the "above water" part. So, I positioned the stamp in my Misti and masked off the area that I did not want inked.  While the stamp was set up in my Misit, I also used masking paper to create a mask for my ink blending.
I trimmed my mask in two pieces.  I placed the "above water" part down and ink blended my ocean.  I then placed the other half of the mask down and ink blended the sky in shades of yellow, pink and orange.  Next I took the Sunburst stencil and laid it on top of my fully inked panel (be sure to cover up the (ocean) blue area).
I sprayed a fine mist of water over the stencil and blotted up the excess water and ink with a paper towel.  I did this several times until I got the look I wanted.
This whole step was made simple with the Waffleflower Mixed Media mat since it is waterproof and keeps your paper in place.  And cleanup is a breeze with just a squirt of water and a paper towel!
All that's left is stamping Santa and the sentiment. I'd love to see your card if you use this water and stencil technique!  Tag me on Instagram @katedeignancards
