Foiled Chipboard Sunglasses

Foiled Chipboard Sunglasses

Hello crafty friends! Lauren here, sharing this card I made with the spiral cloud background stamp and some chipboard sunglasses!

I started by heat embossing the spiral cloud background onto Aqua Pigment paper with Alabaster EP. I painted the sky around the clouds with Blue aqua pigment, and layered it several times for a nice bright blue. Then I took a wide, flat paintbrush and used clean water to quickly brush across the whole page, which gave a light blue tint to the clouds from the paint in the sky space.

I prepped the frames of the chipboard glasses with white gesso, to ensure that the Blueberry Sparkle embossing powder (July EP of the month) would show up. If you don't prep the chipboard with something white, the blue will soak into the chipboard and look almost black. When the chipboard was dry, I squished my embossing ink down over the surface and covered them in the Blueberry Sparkle EP. I heat embossed two layers to get a nice smooth coating. Then I used a paintbrush to apply DecoFoil transfer gel to the chipboard lenses of the glasses. When it was dry, I ran them through the laminator with Silver Sketch foil. I ran tape across the back of the glasses to hold the lenses in place. Then I matted the cloud background on a base of Alabaster cardstock, and used foam tape to pop the glasses up around the edge. I then trimmed the pieces of the glasses that were hanging over the edges, and used those edge pieces along the sides of the card. I stamped the sentiment onto Alabaster cardstock with embossing ink and used the Blueberry Sparkle EP again. I trimmed around the sentiment with scissors, and popped it up in the middle with foam tape to finish it off.
