Dive Into Mixed Media with Jess
Hey friends!
Today we're doing something quite a bit different than my normal projects. I have really been pushing myself outside of my comfort zone lately and trying all sorts of new things, so I'm excited to share a different kind of project today.
To start this project, I actually made a print using my Gel Press and some Distress Oxide inks. I've been totally loving making prints with my Gel Press. It's so much fun! Once my print was done, I started getting some ideas of how to put everything together. I'll be totally honest, though - I fly by the seat of my pants when it comes to creating anything 'mixed media.' I don't plan things in advance, I just make decisions as I come to them!
I used the Chevron stencil down at the bottom (in the 'dirt') to add some interest down below. I added some paint pen details around my heart image (I made that using one of the brand new Simple Blend stencils!). I decided to also use the stamp of the month (the bunny) and popped him up on foam for a little dimension. I used some reindeer moss as grass, which added a bunch of fun texture.
I ripped up some patterned paper from the Fairy Garden pack and layered it up with some shelf liner for texture and dimension. I also stamped on the floral image from Conservatory of Quotes in black ink. I used the gorgeous 'hello sunshine' sentiment from Be Brave near the bottom and heat set it with Alabaster Embossing Powder.
I stamped the same floral image from Conservatory of Quotes on a piece of 12x12 scrapbook paper and then popped the main panel up on foam tape. I did a whole bunch of splatters in brown and black ink and that finished off my project.
I hope you guys love it! I hope you'll let me know what you think down in the comments. This is my first real attempt at mixed media and I definitely want to delve deeper into it and try more techniques!
Hugs, y'all!
