Bug Hugs!

Hello Crafty friends!

Today I am using the Lovely Ladybugs from the March release to make a card. For this card, I wanted to make sure I had a nice black image so I stamped the bugs in clear embossing ink and used the Raven black embossing powder and heat set it. I chose a thicker watercolor A2 panel as I was going to work with a lot of water for my background.

I repeated the same process with my sentiment above and for the few scattered hearts around the bugs. There are so many cute images in the stamp set including bees, berries, beetles and many many florals that would make any number of spring backgrounds for different occasions.

For the next step I colored the bugs and hearts in Candy Apple red Chroma mist. For the background I wanted to create a jungle kind of a backdrop so I laid down a wash of water and dropped in some Leaf Green and Yellow Green Chroma Mists with a wide watercolor brush, keeping it more concentrated towards the outer edges. While this was still wet, I choose a couple of leafy stems from the set and inked them with different distress green inks creating a fuzzy background. Finally I added a little splatter of Pearl Chroma Mist that shimmers just a tiny bit over the greens.

I matted the watercolor panel with a black background and adhered it onto an A2 size card base once everything was dry. And that completes this card. It dint take very long and I loved the loose wet on wet technique that doesn't require too much time yet makes a fun background.

Please give me a follow @table_in_the_attic and @brutusmonroe so we can stop by to admire your lovely creations!

Happy Wednesday.
