Art Journal Page with Jess

Art Journal Page with Jess

Hey friends!

I'm popping in today to share an art journal page I created using products from Brutus Monroe. I have been enjoying using this art journal to push myself out of my comfort zone and try new things.

To start my page, I used my Gel Press to monoprint a background. I started with purples and greens and layered color on top of color to get a dimensional background effect. I used the February Stencil of the Month with black acrylic paint to add some fun texture to the background. I used Raven Detail Ink around the edges to give it a crisp border.

I got a little creative when it came to making the circle images on the page. I actually used one of the mini jars of Brutus Monroe embellishments - I took the lid off and dipped it in black paint before touching it to my page. I repeated this several times and then accented the circles with white paint pen.

I decided to use the True Love - Sailing set because I love how this one looked on top of the chaotic background. I stamped out the characters and colored them with Copic Markers. I fussy cut them and adhered them to the page. I also heat embossed the words 'discover,' 'adventure,' and 'explore' on black card stock in Alabaster Embossing Powder. I outlined these in white paint after they were adhered to the page.

Do you do any art journaling or mixed media projects? Is this something you'd like to see more of or do you prefer card designs and ideas?

Hugs and love,
