5 Cards of Inspiration from 1 Box- September Birds of a Feather Inspiration Box

Hello! Today we are bringing you five cards of Inspiration created from the beautiful September Inspiration Box Birds of a Feather. The monthly inspiration boxes are jammed packed full with stamps, dies and many extras to bring your cards to life. The box is no longer available, however, the great thing about our boxes is most of the items are available for individual purchase if the box is sold out.

Card 1-

Every monthly kit comes with several pre-printed, foilable panels. They a great way to create a simple, beautiful card. I decided to foil the panel with three different colors of foil blue, green, and purple.  Next, I added two feathers using a feather die from the set cut from clover and mermaid glitterstock . The feathers are attached with a glass cabochons from the box.The sentiment is heat embossed in raven embossing powder on vellum then cut with a circle die. Once added to the card base the card was complete. Simple and beautiful.

Card 2-

The focal point of this card is a paper pieced feather. Paper piecing is time consuming, however the results are always worth it. I started by heat embossing several feathers from the stamp set on a piece of green cardstock from the kit using alabaster embossing powder.

Next I cut the feather die using four different types of paper, midnight cardstock, clover, iris, and mermaid glitterstock. The midnight was used as the "base" and the glitterstock colors were randomly pieced back into the feather. I added two different colors of Nuvo Crystal drops to fill in gaps around the feathers. The sentiment will be added to the inside when the card is given to a recipient.   I encourage you to try paper piecing in your next project.

Card 3-

The inspiration box contained a limited edition glitter glaze that was used in card number three. This is not available separately, however, the unicorn horn glitter glaze would look beautiful on this card as well. To begin I used purple tape to keep the mermaid tangled waves stencil in place over a panel that was created with red and pink aqua pigments. While the glaze was drying I cut three feathers using the other die in the set from sterling and mermaid glitterstock. I also heat embossed the sentiment "Be a Peacock in a Flock of Pigeons" on vellum using alabaster embossing powder.  To put the card together I adhered the feathers overlapping each other and added the sentiment to the bottom left. The pane was adhered to a piece of sapphire glitterstock and that completed card number 3.

Card 4-

Card four included foiling using brush strokes toner sheets foiled with purple deco foil. Once the panel was foiled I cut it down into a 2 inch wide strip to add to the left hand side of a watercolored panel. The sentiment is heat embossed using gilded embossing powder. To add more interest to the card I added coordinating enamel dots that came with the kit. To complete card four it was added to a panel of gilded glittestock and adhered to a card base.

Card 5-

Card five adds foil without using the heat of a laminator. To begin I used blue violet and turquoise aqua pigments to create half of the panel. Once the panel had dried I added a piece of one inch score tape to the left side of the panel. I put a piece of green foil on the exposed adhesive using a bone folder to make sure the foil was adhered to the adhesive. The trick to making sure the foil sticks well is to remove it slowly. If you find that it is not adhered use your bone folder to burnish it again.

Next I cut the panel down so only about a half inch of the foil was left on the panel. The sentiment "flock together" was stamped on this panel using raven detail ink. To create the other half of the panel I stamped out feathers from the stamp set in aubergine and envy surface inks. The last step was to cut the feather panel down, add fun foam to the back and adhere it to the card base. This card was so simple and one of my favorites.
