Jess Rocks the Box - Dream Catching Inspiration Box

Hey friends!

It's Jess and I am so thrilled to be sharing the very first installment of Jess Rocks the Box with you today. This is going to be a monthly series where I share ideas and inspiration for the Inspiration Box that month. I'll make several projects featuring products from the boxes and give you ideas for combing the box with other products you may have on hand. Let's get started!

For November, the Inspiration Box is 'Dream Catching' and it is my absolutely favorite so far. There are so many beautiful images and sentiments in the stamp set, not to mention all the other goodies in the box. I've created 5 cards for you using this set-

For the first card, I wanted to do something outside the box. I decided to make a Thanksgiving card. I paired the sentiment and fancy feathers from the box up with the folkwave stencil, turkey (November Stamp of the Month), and glitter stock from the Bountiful Harvest box. I used the feathers behind my turkey to make it more realistic and popped him up on foam for some added interest. This is definitely not the card you'd normally imagine when you see the Dream Catching box artwork.

For my second card, I heat embossed the dream catcher image first with Alabaster Embossing Powder. Then I used Distress Oxides to blend over that. I spritzed it with clean water and then flicked on some specks of Alabaster Pigment Ink and Raven Detail Ink. I also heat embossed the sentiment on a piece of vellum and adhered that to my card. For the finishing touch, I added a few clear dew drops in two different sizes.

The third card also features the large stamped dream catcher image. It's my favorite! I did some ink blending here and added water to get that distressed look. I also flicked on white gesso for some added splatter. I stamped the image in Raven Detail Ink, then offset it in Alabaster Pigment Ink. I heat embossed the sentiment in gilded, then heat embossed it again in alabaster. I added a few pops of color with my enamel dots and a few sparkling clear sequins as well.

The fourth card may be my favorite, but I don't think I can pick one! For this one, I stamped out the feather images on black cardstock and heat embossed them with Alabaster Embossing Powder. I covered the black cardstock with vellum - I heat embossed the dream catcher image on the vellum as well. I added some gold accented twine at the top and embossed my sentiment on black cardstock. To finish things off, I added some metallic rose gold and clear sequins. I just love this card!

For my final card, I went for a different look for the background. I used all of the sentiments from the box to create my background using Raven Detail Ink. I brushed some purple ink on to the background. I embossed three feathers in black on vellum and them popped them up on the card front. I tied some twine around the top and added the adorable feather charm from the box. I also added a few sequins for some shine.

That finishes off the first installment of Jess Rocks the Box. I hope you got some inspiration for new ways to use your box this month. Be sure to stay tuned next month for another video and post with more ideas!

Hugs and love to you all,

Jess
